May 21, 2010

I am so excited because in this letter you get MY MEMORY STICK! And so the vast majority of this letter wil be explanations/whatever about pictures!

Today we watch The Testaments with a recent convert & then Finding Faith in Christ with a less active. And Christ lives! Its such an awesome blessing to know! And I felt the Spirit testify to me about it & now I feel so much closer to our Savior. I cant wait to meet Him & thank Him for all He's done for me. SO AWESOME!

I also placed my second BOM today with George & Kissy Hodge. They were SO amazing & I felt like I was able to connect immediately with them. BUT they are moving to Texas-RUDE! Buy perhaps the missionaries over there are the ones meant to teach them. At least we're able to talk & perhaps plant a seed. And no matter WHAT be happy because EVERYTHING will happen in the Lord's time. :)

And I LOVE my district. I love my comp. I love my DL. I have been so blessed in my area. THey tell you your greenie area will  be your fave--well it CERTAINLY is! I just love everything about it & will SOB when my DL Elder SPencer, leaves. He's my best friend & brother.

ANYWAY--PICTURES!!! (The majority of the pictures are posted on http://www.tedjamulia.com/

First P-Day! Never been so happy to do laundry-04.07

May 24, 2010

The heat isn't here really. I mean, it was hot last week, but we got a cold front these past couple of days HAHAHAHA speaking of days, holy cow. First off, today was PDAY, and we went to Red Rock to go hiking. We were there for a while, chillin, you know, being awesome, and then we were about to drive to a picnic sight for lunch. BUT we lost our carpool!! Oh, and all the sisters in the vegas area came--so that means 7 of us were there, along with Sister McCracken, our mission prez's wife. So we pulled over in this gravel lot and were sitting there, with no phone service, for like 10 minutes when I decided that my comp and I will jog back to the place where we thought we saw them but weren't sure. So we started jogging, and we went for about a mile and then stopped, wanting to die. We waved down a car and asked them how far the stop was. They said about a mile and a half-2 miles. SO we knelt in prayer, on the side of the road, asking what we should do. I felt we needed to go back, and my companion agreed, so we did.

Only to find out our ride left us.
So we were stranded in the desert. With less than half a bottle of water for the two of us. And no cell phone reception. It was NOT okay. And then we finally got reception and called our ride and they said they'd be there in 30 minutes. SO we were chillin' in this parking lot...and 3 deputy cars come in it with 2 cars they were searching. And a woman was arrested for possession of crack. We were like WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?!?! and we just watched. It was really interesting, and we continued watching until our ride found us, and it was good. I'm pretty sure my face got a little burnt. BOO!!! But I love all the sisters in my area. I really love my companion too. She's great. We're determined to make our last week in transfers the BEST!!!! And hopefully we'll be blessed for our obedience :o). Because we have a lesson with our investigator next Sunday and if things go well WE SHOULD HAVE A BAPTISM IN JUNE!!!!!!!!! My first one!!!!! I'll write you more about her in a letter I'm writing you now.

And yes, I got a letter from you mom. On Saturday. Saturday is my favorite mail day because I always get one from my mom, and every other Saturday, from you!!! So it's good stuff. I also got a letter from my ex-Wifey Haylee, and I cried when I saw she wrote me because she's my first nonmember friend who has written me. It was a really sweet note, too.

YAY for Veronica!! Tell her congrats for me, K? I CAN'T BELIEVE KATIE IS GETTING MARRIED!!! Man, I mean, I knew about it before I left, but that's so weird. I have grown SO much on my mission, I can't even imagine getting married. Man. MAN!!!! MAAAAAAAAAAANNN!!!! Did Ryan serve in the fresno CA mission? I forget. LOGAN GREENBURG oh my gosh I need to get his MTC address ASAP so I can write him. My mom is going to send him a package from me, hahaha, and a package to my Finns for me too. She's a good lady.  And I ROCK the uke so far. I just need chords now. I need to know what they look like so I can play hymns. My mom is supposed to send me my simplified hymn book because it has all the chords in it. I haven't done Music Theory in a LONG time, so I can't pick out what the chords are.
I can almost play ALL THE WAY THROUGH Child's Prayer on the piano!!! Yay me!!

I LOVE THE HUNGER GAMES!!! Ryan liked it too? And Oh man everything you're saying!!! I can't wait to read it again. But really, truly, I am LOVING reading the BoM. It's way cool. Nephi is so awesome. Like, for realz.
Man this desk at this computer is so hot. TELL ANGIE THANKS FOR THE LETTERS!!!! They are highlights of my life. I'll write her today while our zone plays softball. Last time I tried to hit a ball with a bat I broke my thumb....yeah no good.

MAIL MY LETTER!!!!!!!

and make sure you get my other letter from where you used to live. It's a long one, too. I need your wisdom and reality.

and facebook message holly if you have time and ask her if she got the two letters I sent her because I ain't got nuffin in return. And then tell her I LOVE warheads and if she wants she can send me a package with them :o)

Today I was bad. I woke up with a WAY bad headache and new that if I went outside it'd turn into a migraine. So I told my comp and I slept for another hour. I'm pretty sure it was from dehydration. But I woke up, took some meds, and now I'm better!!! Celebrate.

So my parents should be mailing me a new memory card for my camera soon, which means that you'll be getting mine in a letter soon!!! WHOO!!! That means you'll upload them on my facebook, and if you'd so kindly por favor, burn them to a CD or put them on tedj.com or osmething para mis p..haha, I was about to put "pantalones" instead of "padres" hahaha. And when you get it, I was my new profile picture to be this blurry one of me, after I'm posing like marilyn monroe. it's not of me posing like marilyn monroe though. But the sky looks pretty, and you can kinda see my name tag. WOO!!!
aaaaaand Happy belated mothers day, oh and my dad did tell me that you said hi when I talked to them...for an hour...and then I talked to Joey and Whit for 45 minutes...and then to Justin for 15. I ALMOST called you since you're practically family, but I decided to be a good girl and not....oh man.

peace out, read the scriptures and SAY YO' PRAYERS

April 14, 2010

Hello Blog World! This is Sister Mack's best friend, Julie. As you probably know, Sister Mack is serving an LDS mission in Las Vegas, Nevada right now! She has asked me to keep her blog updated for her so you know what is happening in her amazing missionary life. I'll be posting the letters she sends me on here hopefully regularly.

This is actually the second letter Sister Mack sent. Her first one is floating around somewhere in my house. Once I find it, I will post it.

Enjoy!

Judy (& Ryan)!!

I love your hospital letter[s]. It reminds me of back in the day when we had notebooks. And we'd pass it back and forth. Good times, no? Yeah...you remember Mitch Mills from Alpharetta ward? He's sitting at the table next to me. He hung out with Jake Nielson (?) a lot. And played bball. Or maybe he was from Roswell. Whatevs.

So I'm doing laundry right now. I love P-day. I love Sundays more, but P-day ROCKS. Angie sends me her blog posts and Jaron and Kiri wrote to me. I'm going to use my scripture markers to draw them pictures. I'm excited.

I'm also excited it's SUNNY. GOSH the snow drove me CRAZY!! PS I have an Elder in my zone from Sweden, I think I told you, Elder Wiklof [pronounced Veekluv], is the most precious thing since Jigglypuff. He was telling me about his family on the way to the temple today and started crying a little when he was talking about how close he and his sister were. She wrote him a 6 page letter and he was touched. I wanted to cry for him.

I get to sing for a devotional or something on Sunday. Cool, huh? I auditioned and won. It was like MTC idol. Jk. But I'm excited to get my funk on. Hollaaaa!! Are you typing these and putting them in my blog?

Anyway, I'm sure I had more to say, but I don't remember. Next time you hear from me I'll be in VEGAS!! So write me back there.

Yeh Rock, CTR, and live it up.

Two Months in Two Minutes

So it's been a hot second since I last posted, and I have lots to say with little time (I'm tired, but realized if I didn't update now, I'd do it...well, only right before I leave for my mission, which is in 19 days!).

January
January was a hit. I participated in my last musical for 2 years (bat boy, not about baseball, but vampires [sorta] but not the twilight kind [sadly]) It was an interesting ride, but I got to do it with some of my best friends, so I am thankful. And I cried. A lot. I realized how much I love theatre. It was also an awesome month because I felt the scriptures come alive. Those were real people, ya know. And they believed in God. Awesome, right???

February
Ah, the month of love. Highlights of this month? I started having daily chats with Rachel, my little sister, and Ryan, my personal missionary prep helper, and began growing. IT SNOWED!!!! My dear little friend Holly informed me also being baptized into the church and I got excited. AND I went to the temple. The Orlando temple, to be specific. And it was wonderously, amazingly perfect and beautiful. It was incredible. And I felt like I got to join this super awesome secret club where you get AWESOME benefits. Oh, and I went to Disney World :o)

March
Well, we're here. The month we've only been in for 11 days. And so much happened. I had the incredible opportunity to give a talk on the Holy Ghost at April's baptism. And you know what, I learned something. I learned that as long as I put forth the effort on my mission, I will be successful. I have the tools. Heavenly Father blessed me with the talents I'll need. I can do this. I've felt mainly inadequate to serve, but Heavenly Father knows my heart and my intentions, and He'll help me. I don't need to be perfect--because none of us are. I just need to do my best, because that's all Heavenly Father wants. And it's finally hit me that I'm really, really going. I tear up sometimes thinking about it, about leaving my friends who may very well leave me. But it's okay. This is something I know I'm supposed to do. And I'm going to do it to the best of my ability.

Nineteen days, kids. That's all I've got until I have the incredible blessing of serving a full-time, 18-month long mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

Let's do this, Vegas.
